Zero Bloat
Codon64 is a proud member of the 250kB Club.
Over time, many companies seemed to have forgotten that not everyone has a fast internet connection. High resolution images and bloated frameworks have become the norm. But here at Codon64, we recognize that all data comes with a cost.
For that reason, we have made the decision to ensure that every page on this site has a weight of 10kb or less. Which is to say that each page can be loaded by your browser with 10kb or less of data transfer. To meet this goal, we use:
- Zero cookies or tracking of any kind
- Zero advertisements
- Zero frameworks or external libraries
- Zero custom fonts
- Zero raster images - our only image is our favicon which is an SVG
We do use JavaScript, but it would be impossible to do the encoding and decoding operations without it.
Zero AI
Codon64 is a grass-feed, free-range, USDA certified lean website. Made by a human that cares about the environment and not a glorified text prediction algorithm that poisons our minds, our bodies, and our planet.
Open Source
Codon64 is free and open source, as all great software should be. You can view the source code on GitHub. You can inspect the page here too, but it will be harder to read the code here since it's been minified to reduce page weight. If you find any bugs in the code, feel free to open an issue on GitHub.
Being open source also puts this project in alignment with Kerckhoffs's principle. Even if this tool isn't exactly high-grade cryptology, it's still a good principle to abide by.
That said, even though the code is open source, the text content of this website is copyrighted.
